Page 3 — Innovative Zero-Waste Pattern Cutting Methodology
Project Type
Creative Pattern Making Research
Design Purpose
To achieve a new methodology of zero-waste pattern making
What is Zero-waste Patter Making?
Zero-waste pattern-making is a sustainable design technique where garment patterns are created to eliminate fabric waste during the cutting process. By strategically designing shapes to use 100% of the material, this method reduces textile waste and promotes environmentally responsible fashion production.

This project is inspired by a new packaging design I found. By using cutting to achieve zero-waste tailoring, transforming from 2D to 3D under the volume effect of objects, I aim to apply this theory to the human body.
Through cutting, folding and various methods, I intend to achieve zero-waste while allowing 2D garments to achieve a 3D effect on the human body.
